Studio Stockholm transforms Länsförsäkringar AB’s office

March 9, 2021

Studio Stockholm Arkitektur has been commissioned to transform Länsförsäkringar AB’s office on Tegeluddsvägen in Stockholm. The new design concept focuses on reflecting the local connection of the brand. The office space – of 29 000 square meters – will be completed in 2023.

The collaboration between Studio Stockholm and Länsförsäkringar AB, owned by the 23 regional insurance companies, was initiated in spring of 2020. Studio Stockholm’s assignment includes developing a new concept that both embodies the brand of Länsförsäkringar and enables a transition into activity-based working.

 – The combination of Länsförsäkringar’s strong brand and the size of the existing office lays the foundation for an incredibly exciting project. We have been careful to find a well-balanced and sustainable packaging that takes the entire organization into account and deeply captures its identity, says Karolina Nyström, Lead Interior Architect at Studio Stockholm.

In the interpretation of the brand, Studio Stockholm has chosen to focus on the local presence that characterizes Länsförsäkringar. This has been expressed by highlighting color, shape and material attributes linked to the 23 regional insurance companies. A selection of the Swedish materials that are already part of the building are retained, while adding new local materials that represent different parts of Sweden. The concept also takes note of the fact that the existing house body has clear similarities with the Swedish map. Based on the activity-based solutions that Länsförsäkringar AB strives for, the various functions have been allocated to calm and clarity in the north and movement and liveliness in the south. To these attributes, the transformed office building will reflect the values of the brand.

The project runs until 2023 and includes all of Länsförsäkringar AB:s areas on Tegeluddsvägen. The employees will remain in the premises during the process, which requires careful planning with regard to their best interests.

 –  Of course, this is not our usual way of working, but fact is that our team at Studio Stockholm enjoy taking on this kind of extraordinary challenges. Our experience is that if we let the conditions and needs of the client be in focus, regardless of what they look like, we indirectly achieve the best results, says Karolina Nyström.
